The Groin is an atypical descent of 3.5 hours, located in Bugey, Artemare. Like the Chaley Canyon, it is one of nearest canyons to Lyon.
The Groin Canyon is a curiosity of the Department of Ain, the rock erosion makes the course a labyrinthine. Groin Canyon is located in Bugey, Artemare, in the nearby of Lyon. Incredibly sculpted, it takes 3.5h to get it down, almost in the dark as it is deep at some point. As the Chaley Canyon, it is one of the nearest canyons to Lyon.

To begin, next to the small impoundment pond, we enter the canyon by jumping and we have two syphons, it is very impressive to start but short and safe.
Then a zone of giant kettles resulting of rock erosion will bring you to a concatenation of jumps, swim across or big slides possible to cross them. You alway can avoid jumping
After the long sections of swimming in the dark, the course is interspersed with shadow of lights which makes the whole atmosphere exceptional and unforgettable.

Groin Canyon is quite long and you have in a good shape to take the best of it.

Yes they are. You have to dive and swim underneath the water surface for a short time, some secondes, in order to cross something like 7,8in long. Not possible to stay stuck in. If the water level is not high enough, the syphons don’t work.
22 ft high, but not mandatory.
It’s the one next to the end, 39 ft high, but obviously not mandatory, c an be done as a ‹auger-slide or an abseiling down.
You have to cross a quite long distance swimming, so it’s better to be an comfortable swimmer, but the wet suit helps you floating, so, no need to have an Olympic level!!
